Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was totally shattered by the news of her mother and brother being shot to death. Moreover, her nephew is missing ever since the terrible happening.

On Friday, the Police attended the Chicago home of the actress’ mother, Darnell Donerson, and was confronted with a shocking discovery. Inside they found the lifeless bodies of the woman and of her son, Jason Hudson. They had been shot to death. The seven-year-old son of Jason was nowhere to be found and had been declared missing.

Lisa Kasteler, the publicist of the actress, has officially confirmed the incident, but has not given any details about where she is located.

The police representatives have declared that they suspect the young boy has been kidnapped and that they have already arrested a possible suspect. They have also given details about the crime scene; the body of the mother has been found on the ground floor and the brother’s in the bedroom.

The young actress, who is currently involved in several projects, has not given any details regarding any of them.

Exelon Nuclear Power Plant

Exelon Corp. has offered 6.2 billion dollars in stock to purchase the New Jersey based NRG Energy. This buy would mean a great territorial expansion for Exelon Corp., based in Chicago; also, their merge would create a company whose value would sum up to over 60 billion dollars.

NRG officials have not yet reacted to this unsolicited buy proposal, but it seems that they are not very thrilled about it.

Exelon Corp. operates under the environmentally friendly principle and all 17 nuclear reactors that they handle produce very low quantities of greenhouse house emissions.

They have stated that this merge with NRG would keep them amongst the less polluting energy companies in the United States.

Also, they have tried to describe this merger as a win-win situation for the involved companies; Exelon gets territorial expansion, NRG gets leverage on the 8 billion dollar debt and better credit rating, and together they get to produce about 47,000 MW, which would be enough to provide electricity for about 45 million homes in the US.

At present, shareholders from both companies are analyzing the merger and the results will be communicated to the press as soon as a final agreement has been reached.

Homecoming Queen and King Crowns

In Chicago, a 17 year old girl with Down syndrome has been crowned Homecoming Queen this month. Anne Jennings is probably the happiest person in Libertyville High School, as she has been chosen as their queen this year.

She and her best friends are now crossing the hallways with the largest smiles ever, and with the pride of knowing Anne is one of the most loved persons in the school.

She was elected queen on the 3rd of October and ever since her life has changed; it has been an enormous boost of self-confidence for her, and she now knows for sure that she is surrounded by friends and people who care about her. During high school she attended mostly special education classes, but she has always known to be a very good friend to people she had studied with in her early school years.

After graduating from high school, Anne will attend the Hawley Transition School in Mundelein, where she will be taught how to manage everyday tasks and how to keep a job.  At this moment, her biggest hopes are to go to college and marry her boyfriend.

Lucca

Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood was shocked by the news that a man’s body was found inside a popular Italian restaurant.

The police say the body was found on Wednesday, in the basement of the Italian restaurant called ‘Lucca’s’ 2834 N. Southport Avenue.

The police attended site after they had received a 911 call, late after midnight, alerting them that a hands tied body of a man had been discovered.

The man’s identity was not yet revealed to the press, and all that was confirmed was that he was one of the restaurant’s employees. After investigating on the murder scene, the police have declared that he died as consequence of trauma, but no details were given, and that an autopsy will be performed today.

The news of this violent murder has shocked all those living in the quiet Lakeview neighborhood, as the restaurant was the last place they would have expected to be a murder scene.

Lincoln Park Hospital Lobby

The Lincoln Park Hospital’s financial crisis seems not to have any solution; they have tried selling it, but they could not find a buyer and they are now about to close its doors for good.

No patients are admitted since yesterday, they do not have a functional emergency room any longer and Chief Executive Michael Curran has sent an official letter to all ambulance and firefighters services announcing that they are closing down. The hospital will remain open only for the 37 patients that are still admitted.

The Chicago Lincoln Park Hospital has been functioning since about 125 years ago, but the inability to get finances has driven the owner to putting out for sale. Even though they received a lot of help from the state, they still couldn’t manage to find a buyer or at least some funds to keep it open for another while.

The patients attending this hospital were mainly living in neighborhoods like Uptown and Rogers Park, who had a Medicaid health insurance, and most of them were future mothers who wanted to deliver their baby here.
