Obama and Bush Shaking Hands

Early next week President Bush is scheduled to meet with America’s 44th elected president, Barack Obama.

They will discuss matters of national security, international politics, the Iraq war, the global financial crisis and all other issues that will be passed on from the old president to the new one on the 20th of January.President Bush also wants to express his congratulations to President-elect Obama for his great campaign, and for his resounding victory.

He declared that, since Mr Obama is still choosing the members of his team, his advisors will be more than happy to give them a briefing on all important ongoing national projects, laws, as well as on economy and on foreign policies.

Bush also said that he will do all he can to ensure that, within approximately 75 days, Mr Obama and his team are more than prepared to take over the White House and the presidency of the United States, without even noticing they have only started their activity.

President -elect Obama and the members of his transition team are already being treated as such; they have been given security clearance for the White House, and some of them even receive updates on cases containing classified information.

Stressed Man

With the latest events in mind, American citizens were asked to answer some questions about the state of the US today; 75% have turned out to be fearing a national crisis. The ordinary American citizen is stressed, fearful, angry and feeling helpless.

They do not like the way the United States look today and they do not know what could help them to get out of this impasse. Almost the same percentage is openly unsatisfied with President Bush’s activity.

What seems to be most shocking about this poll is the fact that people actually admit they are scared and that they are fearful, which only comes to show the situation is very serious. The citizen’s level of stress and fear has become so high that the only solution they see left is to actually tell people about it, maybe something will be done.

Only a quarter of the interviewed has declared they are doing well and they are pleased with how things are going.

The poll results are based on telephone interviews taken to 1,058 adult American citizens, and it has a +/- 3% sampling error.

Martin Chalfie, 2008 Nobel Prize Laureate

As of yesterday, it has become official that all three 2008 US Nobel Prize Laureates want Obama as president, and encourage people to vote for him on National Election Day, on the 4th of November.

The initiators of the Nobel Prize Laureates support group are Martin Chalfie, Roger Tsien – who won the prize in Chemistry – and Yoichiro Nambu, who was rewarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics.
An open letter has been sent yesterday to all media, on behalf of 65 North American Nobel Prize Laureates, which states the reasons for which Obama gets the endorsement of some of the greatest scientific minds in America.

They all see in Obama the man of vision that the country needs, the leader who will ensure the continuous development of science and technology and with whom they would be happy to work in finding solutions to some of the country’s greatest issues: environment, security, economy.

The scientists also make known in the paper their opinion on the Bush government and on the chaos he has turned America into.
